This was the new home for Currys in Lichfield after moving from their smaller Market Street location.
The store had many names over the years Currys, Dixons and Currys.digital, this was due to the take over of Currys by Dixons in 1984 and a rebranding that began in 2006.
The mock tudor design came as part of a make over the building had when Ind Coope ran The Malt Shovel public house at the location over looking Market Street.
Planning permission was gained in 2012 for a change of use to a restaurant but it never opened.
Currys could of opened in 1973. There are reports of the store opening in 1972, but there is a photo of the Sheriff march from 1973 that shows part of the building. It has a Currys sign over the doorway but you can see the words Ind Coope still remain in place adjacent to the sign. Its hard to believe that Currys would begin trading but leave brewery name next to theirs.
